Standouts from Sunshine State Showdown
2024’s
Eris Lester - (Miami Suns) Lester was extremely impressive as she led her team to a championship. Her motor, activity on the glass and versatility defensively stood out the most. She plays with high energy and dishes out contact. We already knew she was a talented offensive player but she has the ability to impact the game even when the outside jumper isn’t falling.
Tabitha Betson - (DME) Betson showcased the whole package this weekend. She played point/center. Her versatility to play inside out and even run Jokic style 5/1 pick and roll was impressive. Her ability to push the break and pass off the dribble like a guard makes her one of the most unique posts in the country. She will have a breakout travel ball season.
Sienna Dauer - (FGB) Dauer is playing with confidence that wasn’t always there this high school season at IMG. She is playing with poise and the game is slowing down for her. She is shooting the 3 consistently but is also an effective 3 level scorer in the pick-and-roll. She plays within herself and doesn’t make many mistakes. She is a very steady secondary ball handler who makes the right play.
Clare Coyle - (ECU) Coyle plays with great energy and has improved as a ball handler. She has always been a post and has seemed to have transitioned into a tweener. She rebounds the ball very well and competes on every possession. She’s smart and usually makes the right play. She is solid in the open floor. Her shooting range must improve but does a lot of the little things for her team. A stock riser from the weekend.
Sydnee Roundtree - (ECU) Another stock riser from the weekend. Roundtree is a very good athlete who’s comfortable attacking both ways. She’s very good on the catch using her jab step to get downhill. She is fluid with the ball and has a nice hesitation. Great length for a wing and has the tools to be a very versatile defender.
Lexi Blue - (CFE) Blue looks more comfortable putting the ball on the floor. She got to the mid-range game and her footwork was textbook. She got out in transition and did a good job attacking closeouts. Blue needs to embrace contact and help on the defensive glass more but a good weekend overall.
Bri Rivera - (J Sizzle) Rivera has gotten off to a great start in travel ball so far. She is shooting the ball with range. She’s very good at coming off screens and moving without the ball. She also has shown the ability to be a secondary ball handler. Her range has allowed her more space to operate in the half-court.
2025’s
Jordan Speiser - (All Iowa Attack) Speiser is a 6’1 versatile wing who has deep range and shoots the ball at a high clip. She knows how to execute and play without the ball. She showed the ability to not only attack closeouts but to also break people down off the dribble. She’s got a high IQ and doesn’t make many mistakes. She competes on the glass as well as the defensive end.
Divine Bourrage - (All Iowa Attack) Bourrage is an athletic long wing who plays on both ends. She has the ability to create her own shot and does most of her scoring pulling up or getting to the rim. She is her team’s late shock clock isolation player and looks comfortable in that role. Defensively she’s physical and can guard multiple positions.
Lena Girardi - (FGB) Girardi is a tweener that can get it done on the offensive end at all 3 levels. Her 3pt shot is inconsistent but has shown the ability to keep the defense honest. She is physical and gets to the free-throw line. She rebounds the ball, especially the offensive glass. She’s an extremely confident player who plays with great energy. One of the top 25’s in the state.
Ari Woodard - (Essence) Woodard is a smooth combo guard who plays with poise and confidence. She has the ability to stretch the floor with her shooting ability and has great shooting mechanics. Her ability to score on all three levels was on full display. She plays at her own pace and never gets sped up. Defensively she competes and doesn’t mind challenging someone on that end. Very crafty offensive player who has bounced back nicely from the acl injury.
Lara Barnes - (DME) Barnes put together a very strong weekend. She showed the ability to shoot the ball with deep range and did it at a high clip. Not only was the 3 ball going but she was able to get to the rim as well as the free-throw line. Barnes has improved as a defender and as a decision-maker. She hovered around 20 pts a game for the weekend.
Sophia Munoz - (CFE) Munoz is a shot maker who continues to improve as a ball handler. She plays well without the ball coming off screens but continues to look more comfortable running pick-and-roll. She seems to be able to play some backup point guard when her team calls on her. Very mature and intelligent player who doesn’t make many mistakes.
2026’s
Chamiah Francis - (Miami Suns) Francis is an extremely intelligent post who understands the position well. She knows how to post offensively and has good footwork for a girl who just finished her freshman season. She plays with poise and isn’t in a rush when she gets a catch. She faces up and does a good job finishing around the rim. Defensively she blocked shots on the interior and did a good job of choking off penetration. She needs to work on lateral quickness, changing ends better, and her shooting stroke. High upside post whose future is extremely bright.
Kammie Ellis - (Miami Suns) Ellis is a downhill driver who can attack both ways. She seeks contact on her drives and gets to the free-throw line frequently. She is a capable 3pt threat and keeps the defense honest. She gets out in transition and can fill a lane or push the break. As she refines her stroke she will become a very good prospect in the 26’ class.
Jaelynn Housey - (Miami Suns) A big strong physical guard who can get downhill. She gets to the free-throw line. Housey has good change-of-direction moves and is hard to guard especially going right. She showed the ability to hit the open 3 when the opportunity presented itself. A confident guard who stays in attack mode.
Trishelle Miller - (All Iowa Attack) Miller is an athletic guard who can get downhill. She is extremely fast off the dribble and puts a lot of pressure on the defense in transition. She made the 3pt shot enough to open up opportunities to attack closeouts. She plays well without the ball and knows how to score in the flow of the offense. For the most part, a direct line driver but is a tough cover both in the half-court as well as in the open floor.
