STANDOUTS FROM FIBA U16 AMERICAS
Jerzy Robinson 2026 USA- This is no shocker here with Robinson leading the USA to Gold. Team USA was head and shoulders the best team in the event which was suspected. Robinson didn’t shoot the 3 at a good percentage and she struggled from the field at times. However, her ability to rebound the ball at the guard position was what she did best. In the finals vs Canada, she showed up in a major way with 24 pts and 14 rebs on over 50% shooting. Robinson led the event in scoring. She lived at the free-throw line and shot nearly 80%. She was the clear-cut alpha on Team USA.
Robinson was named tournament MVP.
Milagros Morell 2025 Argentina- Morell was extremely impressive in the event overall. Argentina finished with the bronze medal which was as good as they could have asked for. In the got-to-have-it moments/games, Morell was huge for her team. Despite struggling vs Canada and USA, Morell averaged 14 pts and 11 rebs on over 50% from the field and from 3. She protected the rim defensively. Morell is a full 6’3 and agile with an impressive skill set for a young post. An intriguing prospect who has definitely put herself on the radar of many D1 programs.
Morell was named to the ALL-STAR 5 in FIBA Americas U16.
Marta Moscarella 2026 Columbia- Moscarella was a very aggressive scorer for Columbia and her team needed her to be. She rebounded the ball well at nearly 9 per game. She had two monster scoring outputs vs Puerto Rico and Brazil scoring 20+ respectively. Her team needed her to fill the stat sheet to be competitive and she did that for the most part. She was the only player on Columbia that could create their own shot. She was in-efficient for most of the tournament but that was expected considering every time the shot clock was winding down she would have to try to manufacture a quality shot. Defensively she was superb due to her long wingspan. She averaged over 3 steals per game and 2 blocks. With 3 years left in high school, Moscarella is another prospect who made a name for herself.
Moscarella had a good showing despite her team’s struggles.
Adriana Robles 2025 Puerto Rico- Robles did a nice job running the show for Puerto Rico. Most of the point guards vs Canada and USA became turnover machines, however, Robles did an admirable job in those two games. Her ast:to ratio was still in the negative but she still stood out compared to the rest of the field. Scoring wise she was efficient averaging 13 pts in just over 24 minutes per game. She struggled vs USA (everyone did) as well as vs Brazil. Puerto Rico finished 4th in the event and a big reason why is because their point guard play was steady for the most part thanks to Robles.
Savannah Swords 2026 Canada- Swords had a good showing for Canada leading the team in scoring and to a Silver medal. Her best game was in the championship vs USA where she was 6-14 (2-5 from 3) and had 22 pts. She got to the line 11 times and made 8 of them. Swords did a good job mixing it up all tournament scoring in a variety of ways. Swords struggled to rebound at times and will need to put more focus into that aspect of the game as she matures.
Swords was named to ALL-STAR 5 in FIBA AMERICAS U16.
