Strengths
Big, physical post with strong presence in the paint
Effective attacking off the dribble going left
Can score with back to the basket; shows comfort on the block
Good hands; catches and secures the ball well in traffic
Strong rebounder who controls the glass
Finishes through contact; embraces physical play
Uses size and strength to create advantages inside
Projects as a high-level interior presence at this stage
Weaknesses / Areas for Improvement
Limited right-hand development; needs to finish and handle with right
Predominantly right-shoulder dependent in the post; lacks counters
Does not stretch the floor; limited shooting range
Ball-handling going right needs improvement
Relies heavily on size and strength rather than skill counters
May struggle finishing vs length without added skill development
Needs to develop a face-up game from the elbow or short corner
Overall Assessment
Jayla Lackey is a physically imposing post who already produces through strength, rebounding, and interior scoring. Her ability to play through contact and control space makes her a reliable presence on the block, and she shows promising ability attacking left off the dribble.
However, her long-term ceiling will depend on skill diversification. Developing her right hand, adding counters in the post, and expanding into a face-up game will be critical—especially as she faces longer, more athletic defenders. If she builds those areas out, she has the tools to become a dominant interior force at higher levels.
