Alves is one of the premier rim protectors in the 25’ class. Her ability to change and block shots due to her length make her a game changer on the interior. Her agility makes her very effective on both ends. She is able to put the ball on the floor and attack slower bigs. She also has a nice jump hook in the low post over her left shoulder. She moves well without the ball and has good instincts and feel. She plays with a confidence that she belongs. Where Alves can improve is as a shooter. Her shot is flat due to her guide hand being a little involved. Her elbow goes out instead of up but mechanically it isn’t broken. She needs to play with a motor at all times. She has the ability to be at the top or back of the press and be very disruptive. With her athleticism and length, she should be a better rebounder than she currently is. She tends to get in foul trouble at times and wants to block everything. She plays with a mean streak which is great but sometimes if things don’t go her way her emotion can get the best of her at times. Huge upside. No doubt one of the top 4/5 prospects in the country for the 25' class.
